Outcome and remedies

What might happen next if your complaint is upheld.

Our complaints procedure follows a problem-solving approach. If your complaint is upheld, we may do any or all of the following as appropriate (this is not an exhaustive list) :

  • Explain what went wrong and why.

  • Apologise.

  • Accept responsibility.

  • Take actions to put things right, which may include reviewing or changing a process or policy or invoking our internal disciplinary procedures that are outside of this complaints procedure.

If it is found that there has been a breach of our Dignity and Respect Policy, sanctions against the subject of the complaint could include (but are not limited to):

  • Warning the person that the particular behaviour is inappropriate and should cease.

  • Denial of access to SoA offices, venues or meetings on a temporary or permanent basis.

  • Withholding of a contracted fee.

  • Removal from any committee subject to a vote of that committee.

  • Removal from a judging panel.

  • Removal from SoA membership.

Please let us know if you need any extra support when we contact you, for example, a larger font size.
