Clare Richards

Clare Richards is a neurodivergent literary translator based in London, working from Korean to English. Clare received her BA in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford and MA in Korean Studies from SOAS University of London. She first began translating in 2018, subsequently completing a two-year Korean government fellowship at the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, and was selected for the 2020-21 National Centre for Writing Emerging Translators Mentorship in Korean.

In 2021, Clare’s translations were awarded the Korea Times Modern Korean Literature Translation Commendation Prize in fiction and longlisted for the John Dryden Translation Competition. Her debut literary translation publications are upcoming in 2022 and 2023.

She has a particular interest in feminist fiction, and is passionate about furthering discussions of accessibility in translation.
