Lunchtime learning – Become a reading volunteer with Coram Beanstalk
15 July @ 12:00 - 12:45 BST

Discover how you can help to set children up for a lifetime of reading for pleasure, and the benefits it may bring for you as an author.
Reading charity Coram Beanstalk provides one-to-one reading support in primary schools, helping children to find books that inspire and delight them. To do this they need volunteers who make reading feel like magic.
This session is an opportunity to find out more about the work of Coram Beanstalk, and why you should consider volunteering in a local school.
You’ll hear from Sara Browne, a Coram Beanstalk trainer and reading volunteer, and Piers Torday, an SoA member and children’s author who has previously volunteered for the charity.

Piers Torday
Piers Torday’s first book for children, The Last Wild, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Award. His second, The Dark Wild, won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize.
