Join us for an in-person event hosted by our Educational Writers Group (EWG). Catch up with fellow members, chat with the SoA staff team, and hear from our special guest, author, Tony Bradman who will be sharing insights into his creative process.

- 6.35pm – Tony Bradman will speak about his craft, take questions and give a short reading.

The Line-up
Tony Bradman
Tony Bradman is an award-winning writer of children’s books. He has written poetry, picture books and stories for all ages, including historical fiction set in a wide range of periods. He has worked extensively in educational books for children as an editor and as a writer. He was Lead Author of Project X, a major reading scheme from OUP, and also editor of Hachette’s Astros, a graded reading scheme for children with literacy problems. He has edited many anthologies, has been active in authors’ organisations – he was Chair of the SoA’s Children’s Writers and illustrators Group (CWIG) Chair of the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) between 2016 and 2022, and Co-Chair of The Copyright Licensing Agency at the same time, and also Chair of the Siobhan Dowd Trust. He was made a Fellow of the Historical Association in 2022, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2024, and lives in south London.

About the Educational Writers Group
Educational Writers Group (EWG) is a professional network for SoA members who produce educational materials for all settings including schools, higher education and academic institutions, and the English Language Teaching sector. The group welcomes emerging career authors who are interested in producing educational materials in the future as well as established authors.
The group is run by an elected committee of volunteers with expertise in different areas. For all inquiries about the group, please email co-ordinator Tilly Zeeman.
