Feel Good Friday – Draw along with Ellen Surrey

Join Los Angeles-based illustrator Ellen Surrey for a colourful, Halloween-themed sketch session to kick off the spooky season.
Inspired by her love of painting and printmaking, Ellen will walk you through a technique she often uses in her sketchbook to create multiple colours with a limited palette.
For this session, you will need:
- Paper (smooth is better)
- Pencil and eraser
- Translucent markers (Ellen will be using Tombow dual brush pens)
- A thin pen in a dark colour (ballpoint, Micron, etc)
This event is in conjunction with our Educational Writers Group (EWG).

Ellen Surrey
Ellen Surrey is a Los Angeles-based illustrator whose work captures the unique spirit of the city she calls home. Endlessly inspired by the surrounding film industry, mid-century design, and vintage treasures, Ellen’s work presents a vibrant world of joy and whimsy. Her work spans from digital to gouache illustrations, appearing in children’s books, posters, editorial, product designs, and even a USPS postage stamp! No matter the project, Ellen’s work is always celebratory of the subjects she depicts.
