Patrice will be in conversation with Executive Director of Word of Colour, writer and literary activist, Joy Francis, to discuss to discuss her work and career and to offer a glimpse into her creative routines.

Patrice Lawrence is an award-winning writer for readers of all ages. She is the current Waterstones Children’s Laureate championing the benefits of story-sharing for vulnerable children.

Joy Francis

Joy Francis is executive director of Words of Colour. A writer, literary activist, curator and creative entrepreneur, Joy has co-developed a raft of initiatives centring inclusion in literature, heritage and publishing, including the inaugural Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowships and the Poets of Colour Incubator with Manchester Poetry Library. She is a Royal Society of Literature Honorary Fellow 2022.
