Society of Authors’ Contracts Advisors Theo Jones and Johanna Clarke are set to host a limited podcast series on navigating the publishing industry.
The podcast will look at key industry topics, issues and challenges affecting authors today, and intends to guide and empower authors of all types, whether they are members of the SoA or not.
The first episode will be released on Monday 3 April and is titled ‘Hello, can you hear me? Audiobook publishing for Independent Authors: strategies, contracts and tips‘.
In this episode, Theo and Johanna will discuss the current audio landscape, how the production process works and the agreements an author will require, as well as some tips on retaining creative control of books and how best to market them in the world of audio.
‘I’m thrilled to be part of the SoA’s very first podcast. As someone with a mild podcast addiction, I know the potential they have to reach and inspire listeners. I’m hoping we can empower authors via this fun and accessible format and also complement the amazing SoA@home online events programme already available.‘

‘I am so delighted that after weeks in the planning we are finally ready to press publish on our Advisory Clinic podcast! I hope you will all enjoy it as much as we did making it. Advising authors and supporting them as they navigate the publishing landscape is our passion and we are so thrilled to be able to use the podcast form to increase the reach of that message and to explore the benefits of all that it can offer. We hope you enjoy listening!‘
