Submit a nomination

The deadline for nominations to the SoA board of directors (Management Committee) is Monday 15 July. To submit a nomination, use the form below to upload:

A candidate statement of up to 500 words to explain what you hope to achieve as a member of the SoA board (Word or text)
Brief letters of support from two other members who have agreed to nominate you (Word or text)
Optional: an author photograph, illustration, book cover or other image to represent yourself

Please also complete our diversity monitoring form. This is optional, but the information you provide will help us avoid barriers to access, and improve representation and diversity at the Society of Authors. Your details will be anonymous and are not connected with your nomination to stand for the Management Committee.

Your statement, photograph and the names of your nominators will be shared with members when the elections open in September.

The SoA's mission is to empower professional authors and their estates with knowledge, support and community, and to lobby industry and government for an environment that helps sustain and nurture the careers of creators and their work. Your 500-word statement is your opportunity to show why these aims are important to you, and how you would help to drive it. You might want to identify some key challenges and opportunities that you feel are facing the Society of Authors in the year ahead. You might have some experience or views about improving inclusivity, diversity and representation that you would like to implement in your role on the Management Committee. And you could tell us about how your involvement with the SoA has had an impact on you. Above all, this is your chance to say what you want to achieve in your role as a Management Committee member. What difference will you make?
