Society of Authors’ Annual General Meeting 2025

Join us online this November for our 2025 Annual General Meeting hosted via Zoom. The AGM is conducted online to allow access to as many members as possible.

Your votes and participation are important to us. We encourage all Full Members to vote at the AGM or to appoint a proxy and register a voting instruction in advance. Associate Members are encouraged to attend but cannot vote. 

Voting is managed securely and confidentially by Mi-Voice. They will contact all Full Members with instructions on how to vote, both on the day or in advance by appointing a proxy to vote on your behalf if you are unable to attend the AGM.

If we have an email address on file for you, Mi-Voice will email you directly. If we only have your postal address, they will send you printed voting instructions. 

At the AGM, resolutions are put to a vote via electronic poll. If you have voted by proxy, you may attend the AGM but you will be unable to vote.

5pm – SoA AGM Agenda

The Society of Authors’ AGM is open to Full Members and Associate Members of the SoA only.

A. Introduction and welcome by Vanessa Fox O’Loughlin, Chair of the SoA’s board (Management Committee).

B. The SoA’s ‘Year in Review’ video.

C. Report of elections to the board (Management Committee).

D. To consider and, if thought fit, to pass the following Resolutions:

Resolution 1: that the minutes of the meeting held on 21 November 2024 be approved.

Resolution 2: that the annual report and accounts for 2024 be approved.

Resolution 3: that the Full Members nominated by the Board (Management Committee) – the list to be announced on the website w/c 27 October – to become SoA Fellows is ratified.

Resolution 4: that two nominees are elected to the Committee of the P.D. James Memorial Fund. See paper on the event listing.

Important information – please read

Additional resolutions may be added by the Management Committee or by *10 Full Members, by Monday 15 September 2025. This earlier deadline will allow us to circulate Final Resolutions to the membership. Amendments to these resolutions should be received by Monday 20 October 2025.

We will then circulate all Final Resolutions and Amendments to the Membership together with voting instructions.

• This online event will take place on Zoom Meetings; you will have the option to be on camera or not, you can ask questions in the chat or by ‘raising your hand’ electronically. The AGM Chair will invite you to ask your question directly.
• This event will be recorded for minuting purposes only.
• This event will be approximately 120 minutes
