North East Group: Being Your Own Publisher

Join the North East Group for our next meeting on Saturday 12 September, doors open from 10.40am for an 11am start. The topic for the meeting is ‘Being your own publisher’, with guest Caroline Corfield who writes science fiction novels and short stories, along with non-fiction.

Caroline Corfield  

Caroline Corfield was born in Glasgow, studied Physics, and has had a career as a geophysicist working around the world on board seismic survey vessels belonging to an oilfield services company.  Recently, Caroline graduated with a Distinction in her MA in Creative Writing from Hull University.  She continued to write for pleasure during her studies and her career as a geophysicist. Her science fiction short stories have been published in the British Science Fiction Association’s Fission #4 and #5 anthologies. She has also self-published four books set in a near-future inhabited Antarctica, which were great fun to write and necessitated her becoming her own publisher. Caroline now lives on the edge of rural Northumberland.

We will meet at the Lit and Phil Library, 23 Westgate Road (next to Bolbec Hall), Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1SE. It’s less than one minute from Newcastle Central Rail Station and the Central Station Metro. Turn right and walk for less than a minute, and the Lit and Phil is on the corner of Westgate Road, Orchard Street/Neville Street, next to Neville Hall.
