1-12 June is Volunteers’ Week. (Yes, slightly more than a week, which seems fittingly generous!) So we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who make our work possible.

The SoA is run by and for authors. The Management Committee and all the group committees are composed of members who kindly donate their time and expertise in our shared cause.

Many of our members also give their spare time to help fellow authors, whether it’s by setting up local events or by supporting each other through difficult times. Others help to protect our reading culture more generally – be it campaigning for public libraries or helping to spread the love of reading and writing. Thank you to you all.

If Volunteers’ Week has inspired you to give something back to your fellow authors, Members can put themselves forward to stand for our Management Committee until 27 June. Alternatively, why not get involved with the library campaign or become a Reading Ambassador?
