How can I find my log in details?
We sent you your log in details by email when you joined. You will need to enter your membership number (just the last five digits, excluding the three leading zeros), and password which you can find in your welcome email. When you first log in you are prompted to set the password to something more memorable for you. For log in help, please contact us or click the Reset Your Password link on this page.

Member Directory
Log in to the Members area to create your searchable profile in the author and translator directories. Add information about you, your work, and the services you offer.
We support many author communities which SoA members can join for free, including special interest groups and networks which cater to a range of interests from work specialisms to geographical areas. Let us know if you’d like to join one.
Run by members for members, local groups are a great way to meet fellow authors in your area, share knowledge, support and inspire one another. We look at your postcode to add you to these groups, but let us know if there’s a different one you’d like to join.
Members get free access to Professional Development sessions (£35 for non-members); a chance to learn new skills or brush up on existing ones. Plus access to previous Vimeo professional development recordings and our podcast feed with incredible speakers and a diverse span of subject areas covered.
The SoA’s event programme offers a wide range of in person (socials and networking) and online events via the #SoAatHome series. Members get free access to #SoAatHome Feel Good Friday events (£5 to non-members),

Specialist insurances and tax advice
SoA members are entitled to exclusive access to member-only insurance schemes and discounted rates on other policies, as well as free tax advice from HW Fisher and pension advice from Ascot Lloyd.
DBS Checking – working with children

Book launch venue at Bedford Row

Free for members, our stimulating, informative and authoritative quarterly magazine features articles on all aspects of writing, illustration and literary translation by contributors from across the industry.
Your membership of the SoA qualifies you for free membership of ALCS. They may even have money waiting for you! They collect secondary rights from the UK and other countries and work to ensure writers are fairly compensated if their work is copied, broadcast, or recorded.
Industry knowledge, campaigns and policy
A force in the publishing industry for more than 100 years, the SoA works alongside the Publishers Association, Association of Authors’ Agents, as well as other creative industries such as the Creators Rights Alliance.
