Penny Pepper is an award-winning writer & disabled activist.

Her life as a poet began with punk-era fanzine publication. With many years experience, she has performed at WOMAD, Hastings Fringe, Hastings Lit Fest, Slam Dunk and Little Gate Big Fest. National venues include The Royal Festival Hall, Edinburgh Fringe and the Royal Albert Hall. She’s on the advisory boards of The Literary Consultancy and is an active member with the Society of Authors’ ADCI group. Publications include her memoir, First in The World Somewhere (Unbound) and poetry collection, Come Home Alive (Burning Eye Books), with a second collection due in 2024. In 2021 she won the prestigious Hemingway Shorts competition and in 2022 was commissioned to write a set of poems for ‘Representology – The Journal of Media and Diversity’. She writes a monthly column for Byline Times, and is represented by Abi Fellowes of The Good Literary Agency.
