Zo is a queer and neurodivergent writer, hailing from the South West. Having grown up on beaches, in woodland, and on the wilds of Dartmoor, they are heavily inspired by the magic of nature. Zo’s experiences of marginalisation have driven the strong political voice in their work.

Much of Zo’s work is project based and process driven, spending time connecting to a place, taking deep dives into specific subject matter, and experiential exploration. Never shying from the taboo, and actively seeking to challenge, their work seeks to shine a light on the difficult and unspoken. Zo writes to connect with people, evoke change, and challenge taboo subjects.

Zo writes creative non-fiction, short fiction, and poetry – their current focus. Their work has found homes with Querencia Press, Black Cat Poetry Press,  Dark Thirty, and in the Joy//Us anthology of queer joy by Arachne Press.

Zo has performed at a variety of venues, including Theatre Royal Plymouth, Exeter Phoenix, and The Old Bakery in Truro.

As a workshop facilitator, Zo has worked with local non-profit organisations, and Wide Open.

Zo’s background lies in education, youth work, mental health, marginalisation, and nature conservation.

When not writing, Zo can be found rummaging in compost, floating on water, wandering in woodland, and singing shanties.
