I’m a researcher, writer, and what I call a freelance academic. I received my PhD from Durham University in the Anthropology of Religion, focusing on pop culture and mythology. My love firmly rests in the intersections of mythology and popular culture, particularly how our popular culture narratives are our contemporary mythology.

I’m the author of Digital Monsters, and Digital Mythology and the Internet’s Monster. I have an upcoming book of an anthropological study of cosplay, published by Reaktion, called Cosplay and the Dressing of Identity.

Both me and my work are featured on podcasts, such as Digital Folklore and Spirits. I have also been featured on radio programs, such as BBC Radio 4 and ABC.

I have hosted workshops on writing and publishing academic work outside of the Ivory Tower, and am available for ghost writing researched nonfiction work.
