I am a New York Times and USA Today bestselling science fiction writer who has written more than twenty novels based on TV shows such as Star Trek and Doctor Who.

An associate fellow of Homerton College, Cambridge, my academic interests include feminist science fiction, transformative works, and creative writing practice and methodology; I write and broadcast regularly on these and other topics.

I am on the editorial board of Gold SF, an imprint of Goldsmiths Press aimed at publishing new voices in intersectional feminist science fiction, and I am a trustee of the Science Fiction Foundation. I have been a judge for the Arthur C. Clarke Award, given annually for the best science fiction novel published in the UK.

A former lecturer in creative writing, I continue to mentor writers, particularly those working towards completing their first novel, and I have run creativity and writing workshops for organisations including CERN IdeaSquare and the University of Cambridge.
