Retired in 2019 and became a fulltime writer. Conducted extensive research into the Battle of the Somme, the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War, culminating in three books which tell the quite incredible story of his grandfather in the series “Andy Symington: Tyrone’s Most Wanted Man”.

An accomplished and charismatic speaker, regularly speaks at U3A, Womens Institute, Literary Festivals, Military and Family History events.

Currently working on “Women in War: the contrasting roles of Irish and British women 1916-1923.”
Also writing a history of a Buckinghamshire medieval church in “Rebellion, Regicide, Graffiti and Bodysnatching”.
