I’m an award-winning freelance writer (the BBC, The Financial Times, The Guardian, Sunday Times, etc) and author of non-fiction popular science books. My debut book Clearing the Air: the Beginning and the End of Air Pollution (Bloomsbury, 2019) was shortlisted for the Royal Society Science Book of the Year. My second book, The Last Drop: Solving the World’s Water Crisis (Picador, Pan Macmillan, 2023) was one of The Times’ Top 100 books of the year picks for 2023. I focus on climate change, the environment, renewable energy and climate justice.
In recent years I’ve also become a ghostwriter, helping other people to tell their story. This has included working with the UN, climate leaders and CEOs (plus some who prefer their ghosts to remain invisible). In both my own books and those I ghost for, I specialise in turning heavy, difficult-to-understand information into engaging, flowing prose for a mainstream audience. I’m keen to pursue more such collaborations, as I increasingly feel that time is of the essence in the fight against biodiversity loss and climate change impacts.
