Known as “The Voice of Cashier Number Three Please”, Terry Green is a twice-published business author and customer services guru.

In 2025, Terry made his first foray into fiction and launched his crime thriller novel, Redline, a fast and furious read, set in the glamorous world of sports cars. Redline is the first in a series of Jake Elderfield crime thrillers and according to early 5* reviews, “it will keep you hooked” and is a “race from start to finish.” It is influenced by Terry’s addiction to beautiful cars and his early career in the automotive industry. Redline is published by Terry’s newly-established company, Endsleigh Press and is available from booksellers and online.

Terry’s voice became synonymous with the call-forward systems used by major retailers and banks after he founded Qm Group, maker of electronic queue management systems, more than 20 years ago. When Qm merged with Qmatic AB, Terry became a Board Member and team mentor to the company, which managed waiting experiences for a quarter of the world’s population (2007-2020).

Terry went on to spend more than a decade advising retailers and banks in the UK & USA on the creation of competitive advantage through superior customer experience design and he also spent 20 years as a Business Mentor with The Prince’s Trust (now The King’s Trust.)

An Honours Graduate in Economics from Warwick University, Terry was born and brought up in Solihull, near Birmingham and now lives in Tavistock in Devon. He started working life in dealer development with Peugeot SA and when cellular phones were in their infancy, he became Sales Director for UniqueAir, subsequently sold to Vodafone. In 1989 Terry joined CH Industrials where he managed Tensator, winning a Queen’s Award for Export, for turning a 17 pence seat belt spring into an £89 retractable “Tensabarrier” – yes, those commonly in use for airport queues!

His business books, “You’re Next” and “Cashier Number Three” focussed on customer service and queue management. But when a reader commented that “You’re Next” read like a thriller, it got Terry thinking. His business life has taken some interesting twists and turns, from cars to queues, cellular phones to celebrity chefs, broadcasting to digital marketing, innovation adviser to the DTI to mentor for the Prince’s Trust. So, he set himself the challenge to come up with a twist on the classic detective story, set against the background of his career and peppered with lies, fraud and murder, with some delicious scandal and just a touch of romantic intrigue! And all served up on a bed of gritty business challenges for his hero, Jake Elderfield.

“Redline” is the first in the series. Having discovered his passion for writing, Terry has already got two more books lined up. For his second, “Dangerous Art”, Terry leaves familiar business territory for the world of art fraud and money laundering, but chooses to set the action against a backdrop of some of his favourite places – Burgh Island, the beautiful city of Prague and his home town, Tavistock. The crime thriller is due out in May 2026. Meanwhile “Redline” includes a free short story, “The Velvet Revolutionary”, also set in Prague. Terry is already drafting ideas for the third book in the Jake Elderfield series, “Too Many Cooks”. This draws on Terry’s decade of experience chairing and mentoring hospitality businesses. He is currently Chair of Herefordshire-based Art Hospitality Group Ltd – a collection of differentiated restaurant brands. Until recently he was also Chair of Brookfield Digital, a  marketing agency specializing in the hospitality industry. From 2020 to 2022 he was Chair of Black and White Hospitality Management, a franchised restaurant group working in partnership with Marco Pierre White.
