I published OUR CHILD OF THE STARS 2018/19 and OUR CHILD OF TWO WORLDS 2022 with Jo Fletcher Books. These are richly warm, intelligent, and optimistic science fiction, for adults but read by strong teen readers too, with a wonderful female protagonist, set in 1960s USA. They had strong cross-over appeal. Grazia said ‘Part ET, part Wonder, part Snow Child, [OUR CHILD OF THE STARS] has the same combination of science fiction and heart-tugging tenderness that Stephen King does so well.’

My two new self published books are THE CROOKED MEDIUM’S GUIDE TO MURDER and THE CROOKED MEDIUM’S GUIDE TO TERROR. They are spooky Victorian mysteries with a cross class older sapphic couple Mrs Ashton, a fraudulent spiritualist, and her radical Northern partner Braddie.

”a devilish dance through Victorian fakery… a story that’s mysterious, driven and, above all, great fun to read.” David Harris, blogger

”I thoroughly enjoyed this. Highly recommended!” Juliet McKenna, fantasy writer

”witty, atmospheric and queer hearted mystery” Annarella, Blogger

I’m interested in strong, believable characters and their relationships.  I like writing to have hope and humour, and to recognise the dark and unfair side of life.  The stories are driven by the people as well as the ideas.  Usually, my work has some speculative or fantastical elements, but I am not interested in strict barriers between genres.

I am a long standing comms professional and offer writer services / MS assessment and author workshops on “being interesting” and working with the media. For twelve years I led communications at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I’m a Quaker, bi, a parent, and I ended up in London. Lots more about me, my newsletters, socials, etc on my website.

I am a vehement critic of so-called AI.  The famous picture of St Pauls below is by Dore, and the photo of a gravestone is by Julia Kadel via Unsplash.
