Steph Morris has translated most genres of literature from German, by authors from Aichinger to Zaimoglu via Bausch, Beuys and Suter. He is increasingly focussed on translating poetry as he also writes it. His poems have appeared in a number of magazines and in his pamphlet Please don’t trample us; we are trying to grow! He is also a visual artist and makes visual / concrete poetry.

He leads workshops for translators, poets and artists, has recently judged two translation competitions and was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow 2022-24. A podcast and essay about his work can be found on the RLF site.

Steph has ME/CFS brought on by covid, so has less energy for networking events and professional gatherings than he used to, whether IRL or online. He is still keen to stay in contact with colleagues however, remains available for work, and enthusiastic about writing and translation.
