Simon Caldwell has spent more than 30 years as a journalist, including more than a decade on the foreign desk of the Daily Mail.
In autumn 2022 his debut novel, The Beast of Bethulia Park, was published by Gracewing Limited. It draws on the author’s experience of investigating ‘death pathways’ for national newspaper titles.
Caldwell’s second novel, Lady Mabel’s Gold, published by Gracewing in February 2025, is about the hunt for a gang of thieves using trafficked children to find what they believe to be the most valuable treasure trove since the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.
Caldwell is Master of the Keys, the Catholic Writers’ Guild founded by GK Chesterton and his associates in the 1930s.
