I am a UK-based translator working from German to English. I have a degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Translating and Interpreting from Bradford University. I lived in southern Germany for 10 years, working freelance for a variety of commercial clients. Since returning to the UK, I have specialised increasingly in literary translation and was both a shortlistee (2019) and winner (2021) of the Goethe-Institut Award for New Translation. I enjoy translating both fiction and nonfiction (see below for some examples). I also do reader reports and sample translations for a variety of UK and German publishers. Recent projects include working with a team of translators on Angela Merkel’s memoir Freedom.
