I am a crime writer who has written a memoir, police procedural, standalone domestic noir and crime poetry. I write as F.E. Birch, Ash Cameron and Effie Merryl.

I have written hundreds of short stories, mostly but not all crime focussed. I have written children’s short stories, many with a mystery element, and I like to write about people’s lives. 

I attend festivals and events and like to contribute to reading work and panel discussions. 

I host children’s events and storytelling initiatives and I am part of my town’s Literacy Task Force. I am a safeguarding professional and I am passionate about getting it right for all. I teach safeguarding and offer advice and consultancy for events and festivals, and individual authors.
