I am an author and dyslexia specialist supporting people with dyslexia for over 20 years. I have a well-established private practice, and an approach that encourages the strengths and abilities of the dyslexic individual.

My first book At Home with Dyslexia: A Parent’s Guide to Supporting your Child, published in 2018 by Little, Brown Book Group, is a dyslexia-friendly practical guide for parents. It encourages parents to be advocates for their dyslexic child, helping them to give practical and emotional support for the entirety of their child’s school years.

My second book At School with Dyslexia: A Study Guide for Dyslexic Learners will be out on the 5th September 2024, also available as an e-book and audiobook. This book will give dyslexic students the tools and strategies to thrive in school, by encouraging their creative strengths and innovative ways of seeing and learning.

My main concern is dyslexia in secondary school and my aim is that this will be the first study guide to genuinely appeal to the dyslexic reader – with readable font, short paragraphs, plenty of spacing and bullet points, as well as illustrations by Danielle Sheehy. To add to the authenticity of this guide, fellow dyslexic students share their tips and advice, their heartfelt experiences and their humour in each chapter.

I am originally from Cambridge and live in Cork in the Republic of Ireland (I only came to Cork for the summer, and that was in 1998!) I have a blog for dyslexic students hosted on a study skills website and have been involved in various projects relating to dyslexia, including podcasts, documentaries, panel discussions and exhibitions.
