I am Samantha and I live in East England with the world around me inspiring my everyday. I grew up on a farm and have taken that love of nature and space with my in my heart ever since.

An award-winning journalist and writer, I am a keen photographer, author of five published books, including my latest, Mister Mishkins’ Apothecary, an illustrated book for children. I also cook, having appeared on MasterChef UK in 2019, own a food blog, The Delicate Diner. I own The Arabian Magazine, which I founded in 2004, an award-winning publication all about the Arabian horse. With my parents, we bred Arabian horses for most of my life, winning titles in Europe and the Middle East.

I always say I was born with a horse in my heart and a pen in my hand. Certainly, the two married together well. It took lockdown, however, for my first novel to be released – Sandstorm, Jilly Cooper style set in the Arabian horse world. Like many, lockdown changed me. I didn’t realise at the time, however, it set me on the path to where I am now. Truly, that of a writer.

I love gazing at the moon, beautiful notebooks, pareidolia, and cats. I love to cook a cake when life gets too much, dance my way around the kitchen when life becomes thrilling, and to retreat to the comfort of well worn movies and words when life can be a touch too tiring. I am also a Substack writer – you can find me @samanthamattockswrites

2024 was the year I truly embraced my life as a writer, and I am looking forward to my creative projects in 2025 and beyond coming to fruition.
