Ruth studied English and European literature before gaining a PhD in German. She has been translating fiction and non-fiction books since 2010, by authors ranging from Joseph Roth and Hannah Arendt to Nino Haratischvili and Shida Bazyar. Ruth has taught translation to undergraduates at the University of Kent, to early-career professionals at the Bristol Translates summer school, and to school students at various one-off workshops. She is also a former co-chair of the SoA’s Translators Association committee.
