Literary translator and writer. I have translated a wide range of literary texts from Spanish, from contemporary Latin American literature and experimental fiction to narrative non-fiction in the area of history, social and political sciences. I now live and work in Portugal and am working on untranslated 19th century classics of Portuguese Romanticism, as well as my own writing, which includes poetry and short-form fiction.
”The translations are idiomatic and clever, maintaining much of the humour and wordplay of the Spanish.” Ben Bollig, Times Literary Supplement, December 2013, reviewing Red Tales/Cuentos Rojos, 2012 Araña Editoral, by Susana Medina, trans. Rosie Marteau
”This is a clever and clear translation that maintains both the style and meaning of the original text.” Review of Rupture: The Crisis of Liberal Democracy, 2018 Polity Books, by Manuel Castells, trans. Rosie Marteau
