I am a finance professional who turned to the academic study of finance after a career in investment banking and consultancy. My PhD was awarded by the University of Cambridge in 2025 for my thesis ‘Non-Bank Finance in Eighteenth-Century England’. This shows that the main financial system operating at the time of the industrial revolution was based on people and networks, not London and institutions. I am currently turning this into a book.
