Richard Houghton is the author of more than 20 books about rock music acts, including authorised fan histories of Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Simple Minds, The Stranglers, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays), The Wedding Present and The Ukrainians. His ‘people’s history’ series of books tell the stories of The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Cream, Queen, Thin Lizzy and the Faces in the words of fans. He is presently working on a  ‘people’s history’ of Marc Bolan and T. Rex.

Richard is also the MD of Spenwood Books, which has published more than 20 titles to date by seven authors.
