My writing concerns the history and interpretation of the subject areas that comprise what is usually termed the ‘Western Esoteric Tradition’, especially of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Much of my published work relates to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, its nature, history and membership. In addition I have written and edited texts relating to Christian spirituality and to spiritual experience in general.
