I originally wrote English Language Teaching(ELT) textbooks for Longman based on my teaching experience in Libya and Nigeria. Later, I started working in the Middle East oil industry and became Head of Staff Development with Saudi ARAMCO. Based on that experience and my work as a management training consultant, I wrote two books for Kogan Page: How to Develop and Present Staff Training Courses and the Staff Development Handbook. More recently my Middle East novel, Arabian Night Patrol, was published under a pseudonym, Ian Thewlis. I am currently working on a series of short memoirs, Worlds Apart, which describe growing up in Lancashire during the 50s and 60s and my experiences in Libya, Nigeria, the Middle East during the Gulf War, and the Former Soviet Union following the collapse of Communism.
