History

I have written all my life in a variety of genres and contexts. I have been a full-time professional writer since 2011.  My previous work background as a police officer, youth worker, priest and radio broadcaster shape and inform my work.  My catalogue of work includes twelve published books and three audio collections of poetry. I have done voice-over work for online learning resources.

My first love is poetry – writing and performing. I have performed poetry in many venues in places as varied as South Korea, France, Germany, USA and throughout the UK. For six years I was a regular contributor to BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought team. I have held residencies in schools and entertainment venues, notably with an improvisation show. I have taught poetry in face to face courses and online. I am a regular after-dinner speaker. I have facilitated and encouraged people to express their experiences of homelessness, addiction and disempowerment through poetry.

I live in Southbourne, Dorset a few minutes from the beach – a regular source of inspiration.
