I write fiction, essays and commercial copy, and the through-line is probably that I can’t leave anything alone until I’ve understood how it actually works.

Under a pen name, I’m writing a four-volume serialised fiction project about queer identity, intimacy and early adulthood. Two volumes are published, the third is going up chapter by chapter, and the fourth is scripted. It’s the longest thing I’ve ever committed to, and it still scares me a bit every time I hit post.

On Medium, I write essays about geopolitics, economics, and how technology is changing how we live. I’m partway through a 30-month graded HarvardX programme in Chinese history, and I’m learning Mandarin on the side, which mostly means I now own more flashcards than furniture.

The commercial side of my work is SEO copywriting, AI search content support and German-to-English translation, mainly for healthcare, legal and financial services. Clients include Summerhill Health, Maven/Naytal and Tommee Tippee. I like briefs where the facts have to be right, and the writing still has to sound like a human being wrote it.
