Dr Miranda Anderson is a philosopher of the arts and humanities, literary scholar, historian and curator. She is available to review films, and art and culture for the popular and academic press. Her first book was about mirroring and the mirror and its use in literature and art. Her other five books reveal ideas about the mind and cognitive practices between classical antiquity and the twentieth century. She curated a contemporary art exhibition, The Extended Mind, with Talbot Rice Gallery with works by thirteen international artists all about the mind as extended across brain, body and world rather than just being brain-based. She has presented stand up shows at Edinburgh Festival and at The Stand. She has several works forthcoming on contemporary ideas about the mind and identity as fission-fusion phenomena, including one on Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series. She is also working on her first poetry collection.
