I am a publishing professional with nearly thirty years in the industry across multiple areas. I started as a bookseller at the Manchester Deansgate Waterstones, then moved to the Waterstones Head Office as a Fiction buyer specialising in genre fiction, especially sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels.
In 2011, I moved into publishing, working as the founding Editorial Director of Del Rey at Penguin Random House UK, before going freelance in 2016. In 2018, I returned to work as a commissioning editor at Rebellion Publishing, across the Solaris and Black Library imprints. As Senior Commissioning Editor for Fiction and Non-fiction at Rebellion, I was also editor of the 2021 edition of Whitaker’s Almanack.
In 2023, I left Rebellion and started a new role as Fiction Editor and Creative at Tomorrowland, the world’s number one Trance and EDM music Festival, where I’m working with the team to develop the festival’s fantasy themes into fantasy fiction.
I am now also studying for an MFA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University, with a focus on an Early Modern historical thriller.
