Mia Spangenberg translates from Finnish, Swedish, and German into English. Her published translations include works by Finlandia-prize winning authors Mari Manninen and Pirkko Saisio and acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator Marika Maijala. She was awarded the American-Scandinavian Foundation’s 2023 Nadia Christensen Translation Prize for her translation of Pirkko Saisio’s Lowest Common Denominator (Two Lines Press, 2024; Penguin Modern Classics 2025).
