Born in Scotland, Melanie Frome was adopted at birth, and raised across several countries before eventually landing back where she started—just a little further south, now calling Edinburgh home. 

Possessed of a gothic heart + modern mouth, she writes speculative fiction in the genres of historical fantasy and young adult—layering  myth, magic and a little mayhem while re-examining history through the lives of women who refuse to remain footnotes. 

After three self-published novels (Lady of Fire, and the Legacy of Blood & Hope series— Everlasting and Everfallen, a slow burn sapphic supernatural coming of age story), she is now working on the third book in the series, alongside a gothic novel set in 1827 Edinburgh which brings in folklore inspiration into an anatomical work of women’s fiction. (Yes, she knows that’s a lot of genres in one story).

She holds space for gatherings that align with the turning of the seasons and the phases of the moon, and has led movement practices locally + internationally since 2012. Her storytelling experience includes delivering talks, workshops, presenting on stages and now includes walking tours in Edinburgh which combine her love of history and asking the question ‘what if’ on repeat.

Melanie is interested in Scottish folklore, fairytales, mythology, herbology, learning more about the country of her birth and ancestors, the viking era, healing the witch wound, belonging, nature vs nurture, hormones, collaboration over competition and thanks to a neurodivergent brain this list will continue to grow.
