I’m Matt, a British freelance translator based in Soria, Spain, working from French and Spanish into English. With a strong and varied academic background which includes a MA in Translation from the Universidad de Valladolid, a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Bath and a CIOL Qualifications Level 6 Certificate in Translation, I have been providing translation services for over three years.

My professional background includes spells teaching in France and Spain at both secondary and undergraduate levels as well experience as translation project manager in Leeds, UK. As a freelance linguist, I primarily specialise in audiovisual translation: the subtitling of documentaries, docuseries and sports events in French, Spanish and English. In the past year, compelled by my passion for literary fiction, I have undertaken and completed my debut novel translation from Spanish. I am also interested in several non-fiction subjects and am currently in the early stages of translating a didactic book on philosophy, also from Spanish.
