My debut novel, The Birds That Never Flew, was shortlisted for the Dundee International Book Prize (under the working title of The Dandelion Clock) and also longlisted for the Polari Prize. It was published by Thunderpoint in 2012 (with a new edition published in 2015 which continues to sell). My second novel, Almost Then, was published by Linen Press in 2021. My third novel, Keel, is currently being considered for publication.

I am also an award-winning documentary filmmaker (Royal Television Society Scotland award for best film 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2021 as writer/producer/director) and I founded, and sole own, a very successful TV production company (purpleTV).

I’m currently researching a PhD – Sports documentaries, gender, class and emotion: an autoethnography and I am student (mature!) at the University of Stirling.

I am based in Glasgow, Scotland and Rathlin Island, Ireland, where I built a home on my father’s farm.
