Children's writer

Hello, I’m Lynsey, and I love all things picturebook-y.

I wasn’t the sort of child who always had their nose in a book. In fact, I was a reluctant reader. I don’t remember bedtime stories or shelves full of picture books, and I became rather good at skipping pages in my school reading books (much to my teacher’s horror!). Maybe that’s why I love writing funny stories today – I want to entertain readers.

I’m writing a picture book series featuring a small furry protagonist with a habit that sometimes gets him into trouble. Will my stories ever find their way into the hands of a child? I hope so.

When I’m not thinking up silly stories, I work as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader for corporate clients. Over the past 25 years, I’ve written and edited for all kinds of audiences and organisations. I learned much of my craft while working at the National Trust, and I still love working with people and organisations that are making a positive difference for people and the planet.

I value my membership of the SoA. I’ve made new writing friends, had my work critiqued (and the opportunity to reciprocate), and gained so much more knowledge of the publishing industry. It’s helping me keep my ambition alive!
