I currently write two crime series – the Herring mysteries, set in the present day, and a historical crime series featuring John Grey, a seventeenth century lawyer and spy. I also write short stories. I’ve won the Laugh Last Award (best comic crime novel) twice and the CWA Short Story Dagger. I’ve also been shortlisted for other awards in the UK and the US.

I speak frequently at conferences, libraries and book club events on my own work, crime fiction and humorous writing generally and how to write.
