My name is Gerry, I’m a ghostwriter and Spanish/English literary translator based in Chicago. My translations have been published by Jonathan Cape, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Daunt Books, the New Press, Columbia University Press, Deep Vellum, Amazon Crossing and Editorial RM, and in 2020 I received a PEN/Heim Grant and an English PEN Award for my translation of Lectura fácil by Cristina Morales, published as Easy Reading in March 2022.

I also have some very interesting experience as a ghostwriter, but I can’t talk about that in a public forum. Please get in touch to hear about my background.

Between translation and ghostwriting projects, I take on commercial jobs for a variety of clients, with a focus on museums: my translations have appeared alongside exhibitions at the Prado Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the Vatican Museums, the Vienna Kunsthalle, the Phillips Collection, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. I also head the FTrMP Project, an effort to make Spanish translations of vital migration paperwork available for free online.

I have an M.A. in Hispanic Language and Literature and a B.A. in English Literature, both from Boston University, and I teach translation part-time at Lake Forest College and the University of Massachusetts Boston. You can see my full CV here
