Kathleen Whyman is an author, a journalist, a knackered mum and an Espresso Martini fan. These may be linked.

Kathleen’s books are humorous women’s fiction, inspired by her own feeble attempt to juggle a career with childcare, never-ending life admin and laundry and, outrageously, a bit of time for herself. She is still struggling, despite the fact her children are now teenagers. (Any tips on how to cope would be much appreciated!)

Kathleen’s third novel, Has Anyone Seen My Husband?, was shortlisted for a Comedy Women in Print prize. A comical look at dealing with ex-partners and blended families, it will be out July 2024.

Kathleen’s novel Would You Ask My Husband That? is about married couple Sarah and Will, whose lives are turned upside down when he loses his job and she gets promoted. Overnight, Will becomes the one at home looking after the kids while Sarah’s the high-flying breadwinner. The role-reversal creates guilt, tension, resentment, soul-searching, double standards and, just for the fun of it, a bit more guilt. They’re both driven to wondering what’s worth more – the marriage or the job?

Kathleen’s debut novel Wife Support System – about three mums moving in together to help each other out – was shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Joan Hessayon Award 2020 and the Romance Comedy Novel of the Year 2021.

Kathleen lives in Hertfordshire with her husband and two teenage daughters. There’s a lot of door slamming.
