I am an Arabic-to-English translator and literary agent. My first book, The Doveās Necklace, was awarded the 2017 Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and shortlisted for the 2017 Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation. My second book, Ahmed Najiās prison memoir Rotten Evidence, was awarded the Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in autobiography. I received a 2021 PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grant for my as yet unpublished translation of Haytham El-Wardanyās Things That Canāt Be Fixed. Shorter translations have appeared in AGNI, The Kenyon Review, The Believer, Erotic Review, McSweeneyās, Mousse, Frieze, and numerous anthologies. My most recent book is Shady Lewisās London novel On the Greenwich Line and my next will be Sarah Abou Ghazalās polyphonic Nakba novel Dreams of Ayn Ara. Iām also one third of teneleven, a translator-led agency for contemporary Arab writers.
