Julie Laing is a writer and artist from Glasgow. Her debut poetry collection, ‘some possible endings & beginnings’, was published with Art Riot Press in 2026 and her debut poetry pamphlet, ‘the edge of rhizome’ came out with Red Squirrel Press in 2025. She won The William Bonar Poetry Prize (2023) and The Wigtown Poetry Prize (2022) and has been published in Magma, New Writing Scotland, Gutter magazine, Studies in Photography, The Edwin Morgan Centenary Collection and elsewhere. Julie has delivered sessions and readings for StAnza International Poetry Festival, the Royal Scottish Academy/The Revelator, Push the Boat Out and Edinburgh Photographic Society. Her visual art, including poem-sculptures, has been shown at various venues in the UK and Singapore, and with off-page, a development programme of ‘visual poetry | the poetic visual’, which she co-founded. She was a mentee of Clydebuilt 13 poetry mentorship programme led by Gerry Cambridge
