I was born on the Isle of Man, where historically the Celtic and Norse worlds met, and I’ve always been fascinated by language – both my own native English and others. And at the age of 12, my German teacher told me I had “Sprachgefühl”: a feeling for languages.

Nowadays I’m a translator from Swedish, French, Norwegian and Danish into UK English. I’m also an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. And when I’m not working with words I occasionally write for my own pleasure. In 2022 I self-published A Manx Daisy Chain – a collection of short fairy tales based on writing prompts taken from a box of Christmas teas.

Whether I’m translating a romantasy novel or writing an article for the Belgian Chamber of Commerce, my focus is always on clear, stylish writing that speaks directly to the reader.

In my spare time, I wander the Swedish forests, get very enthusiastic about music, become equally infuriated by data privacy issues… and spend way too much time killing zombies.
