Novelist, playwright, director and rather poor poet, Jackie has so far published three novels, a limited edition collection of short stories and poetry, several plays for theatre, plus a collection of fables written with husband, AJ Deane. Jackie has twice been the winner of the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama and runner-up at the Brighton Fringe Festival. In 2014 she co-founded QuirkHouse Theatre Company with her actor husband, and in 2023 co-founded the Foreword Festival – the UK’s first ever fringe literature festival. Novel number four is due to be published in 2025. Jackie also leads writing workshops, both in person and online for the INK Festival, the Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk Libraries, and has a first-class degree in Creative Writing. She is a proud patron of Halesworth Library in Suffolk. She really likes cats!
