I am a translator from the Russian and am taking first steps in Belarusian. I have translated three novels by Yuri Rytkheu, including most recently When the Whales Leave, Aleksandr Skorobogatov’s Russian Gothic, Galina Scherbakova’s short stories for the anthology Slav Sisters, as well as the forthcoming The Village at the Edge of Noon by Darya Bobyleva. I’m also the co-translator, with Bela Shayevich, of Elena Kostyuchenko’s book of reportage, I Love Russia: Reporting From a Lost Country. Although my work has mainly been in fiction, I am also interested in translating more reportage and memoir, and trying my hand at poetry. With a day job in trade publishing, I have translated many samples for publishers and agents and enjoy this kind of work as much as the larger projects. I occasionally take on freelance editing, structural and line.
