I live in Edinburgh, and have three different areas of interest.

First of all, as a fiction writer I’ve published three novels (Four Old Geezers and a Valkyrie, The Blogger Who Came in from the Cold, and the crime novel The Midnight Visitor), a novella (The Discreet Charm of ary Maxwell-Hume) and most recently a collection of short stories (Grace Notes).

I also founded the innovative self-publish collective Comely Bank Publishing, which published various novels by six writers. Much of that venture involved editing, typesetting, marketing and distribution. Much of what I learned I published in a self-publishing guide. Comely Bank Publishing has now become Dean Park Press, which provides services for self-publishing authors.

Finally, I’m the Editor of the worldwide Englsh-language flash fiction online site Friday Flash Fiction, which has published tens of thousands of stories since its inception in 2013. It’s proved to be a wonderful first step on the writing ladder for hundreds of authors.

I was secondary school teacher for 36 years and long ago lost any inhibitions about public speaking, including hosting author events. I’ve also worked with a number of writers’ groups of varying sizes.
